Day 2

Day 2 of:

  • No Wheat
  • No Alcohol
  • No Dairy
  • No Processed foods
  • No Sugar

I woke up this morning feeling very energized! Thank goodness because it was a busy day.

Started my day with warm water and lemon. It seriously hit the spot. I ended up making coffee anyways and hardly drank it. I was kind of craving a second cup of warm lemon water.  Warm water aids digestion, lemon juice contains Vitamin C, a potent antioxidant that helps calm liver inflammation & reduce bloating.  It’s important to remember that we are supposed to be drinking a minimum of 1/2 our bodyweight in ounces of water each day.  That means If you weigh 140 pounds, you should be drinking 70 ounces of water daily.

As I thought, I was also craving the delicious blueberry breakfast smoothie I had for breakfast yesterday. Today I went a little heavier on the blueberries. So satisfying and nutrient dense. click here for recipe

I broke a cardinal “dieting” rule today and went grocery shopping with a hungry tummy!! What was I thinking?!? I didn’t even dare walk down the chip aisle. My stomach was growling! I got a bunch of produce and I’m going to make vegetable broth tomorrow (if I get the chance). THANK GOD I had veggie sticks in my fridge cut up and ready to go. As soon as I got home I ate them with 2 Tablespoons of hummus. It’s moments like that that make the sometimes tedious job of meal prep totally worthwhile.

After I scarfed down my veggies and hummus, I was ready to make my hubby a meal without being tempted. Get this. I made him a giant plate of nachos (chips, cheese, black + kidney + pinto beans, and shredded chicken) I didn’t eat one single bite! I was so tempted when I was grating the cheese over the chips, but I resisted. Pretty darn proud of myself.

Currently, I’m sipping on this blueberry + lime infused water with this amazing candle burning next to me. Giving up wine or a cocktail at night is so much easier with flavorful drinks like this.

For dinner I made 1/2 cup of cooked rainbow quinoa, a large serving of garlicky sautéed veggies, 2 hardboiled eggs and a big handful of baby spinach. This meal alone contains 27 grams of protein!

Scale says I’m down 0.4 pounds since yesterday.  Seems about right.  It’s amazing all the bloat we carry around from sodium, processed foods, alcohol, dairy, etc.  Peace out bloaty-water-weight!
